Objective: Tackling climate change, reducing ecological footprint and conserving marine and terrestrial habitats

Crescent Enterprises is an annual platinum corporate sponsor of the Emirates Nature – World Wide Fund (EN-WWF).

Crescent Enterprises supports Emirates Nature–WWF’s work in the areas of renewable energy, climate change, terrestrial and marine biodiversity, and education. With our support, Emirates Nature–WWF conducted the bat survey leading to the discovery of three new species of bats in the UAE. As a part of the Gulf Green Turtle Project, a survey was conducted to record the total number of turtles in the region. As a part of the other biodiversity surveys, camera traps have been deployed in the Hajar Mountains to record mammal species in the region. Remote underwater video cameras have also been deployed in the Sir Bu Nair Island to identify sharks, rays and fish population. Other key achievements of Emirates Nature–WWF are:

  • Supporting the development of policy framework for upscaling the renewable energy capacity in the UAE
  • Organising Earth Hour, where more than 500 organisations across the Emirates along with key landmarks across the UAE including Burj Al Arab, Emirates Palace and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque participated in the event.

Crescent Enterprises launched a recycling project on all its premises. The project enables employees to make a direct contribution to protecting the environment by reducing waste through recycling. This project is implemented in partnership with Bee’ah, the UAE’s leading integrated environmental and waste management company.
